Educating Excellent
Healthcare Professionals

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health is a comprehensive initiative of The University of Texas at El Paso aimed at elevating the standard of health care in the Paso del Norte region. The initiative will increase the number of healthcare professionals with a high-quality education.

The Paso del Norte Foundation is generously supporting this effort with a $4.5 million matching grant. Show your support for Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health by making a gift to help double the impact to $9 million.

Healthcare Professionals Dedicated to the Paso del Norte Region

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health encompasses more than 4,400 students in the College of Health Sciences, the College of Nursing, the School of Pharmacy and other health professions, programs and research – more than 70 percent of whom will stay in the community to practice upon graduation.

"For every five doctors, there are 95 health care professionals to take care of you and your family. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health will focus on meeting the need in our region for that 95 percent of healthcare professionals to a very high standard."
- Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ President Heather Wilson

A Top Tier Education that Meets the Needs of Healthcare in the Region

Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health's academic programs educate excellent healthcare professionals across 7 bachelor's, 8 master's and 4 doctoral programs. As Texas faces a critical shortage of healthcare professionals that is particularly acute in El Paso and the surrounding region, Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health will expand the enrollment of degree programs, upgrade labs and facilities and expand research into Hispanic health disparities.

"Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Health is an effort to take what we are already doing in healthcare and dial it up. With more highly skilled healthcare workers and greatly expanded research into the factors that impact Hispanic health, I am confident that this initiative will result in longer, healthier lives for the people in this community."
-John Wiebe, Ph.D., Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
