College of Science
The M.S. in Chemistry prepares professional chemists for careers in teaching and research in academic, industrial and public sector settings. Students engage in experimental and/or theoretical research in a range of specializations from analytical chemistry and biochemistry to chemical physics. Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵs are equipped to enter both traditional fields of chemistry and adjacent fields such as forensics, health, and materials science studies.
Lab facilities include X-Ray, NMR, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance, and Cryo-Electron Microscopy

Roger Ashmus came to Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ with the vision of a career in chemistry. At Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, he took advantage of the opportunities to conduct research, present at academic conferences, and write a thesis. After graduating with both his bachelor's and master's in chemistry from Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵ, Roger pursued doctoral studies at the University of Alberta and later completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Simon Fraser University. Today, he is a scientist at Seagen, a biotechnology research company focused on discovering, developing, manufacturing and commercializing targeted cancer therapeutics.
